Dr. Jennifer D. SON

 

About Me

Dr. Jennifer D. Son is a board-certified general surgeon and fellowship-trained breast surgeon. Dr. Son's clinical interests include breast conservation, nipple sparing mastectomies, intraoperative radiation, oncoplastic breast surgery, risk-reducing breast surgery, and treatment of both benign and malignant breast disease. 

Dr. Son is originally from Brooklyn, New York but has trained through out the country. She received her medical degree from Boston University , completed her residency training in Chicago, Illinois at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital, and finished her breast surgical oncology fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. She is currently residing in the greater DC area and is practicing in Washington, DC and Maryland. She is the Director of the Breast Center at MedStar Montgomery and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center.


 

Dr. Son's Philosophy

Her mission is to provide quality care to patients and to empower them to make the best medical decision for them through education and evidence-based medicine. Patients are unique and there is no "one size fits all". Working together and having excellent communication and transparency help provide compassionate, high quality care to each of her patients.

A multidisciplinary breast cancer care team includes: medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, nurses, social work, rehabilitation and other specialists to help provide a continuum of care throughout your diagnosis, treatment, and beyond.
